Pedagogy in the Philippines is influenced by the social culture and history of education, with traditional approaches tending to be authoritarian, but there are also efforts towards inclusivity and relevant education. The curriculum in the Philippines is also required to use pedagogical approaches such as constructivism, inquiry-based and collaborative.
1. Teaching system and method
The Philippines has a 13-year basic education system, starting with Kindergarten and continuing through Grade 12, with a strong focus on preparing students for higher education or the workforce. The system is divided into four key stages: Primary School (K-3), Intermediate School (4-6), Junior High School (7-10), and Senior High School (11-12).
2. Materials
The materials used are only in the form of modules made by the class teacher in accordance with the existing curriculum, there are no learning books. But in learning, there is a medium called a tarpaulin that helps teachers to convey the material to students. In addition, the Philippines has a well-known teaching medium, the tarpaulin, which is a low-budget version of a large poster. This media is very helpful to improve students' literacy and help teachers deliver teaching materials.
